2.05 Calculator is out

New on the 2.05 version over the 2.03:
Mutilate OH damage is greatly affected by Dual Wield specialization.
OH damage: (Weapon + AP/14*1.7) * (0.5+DWS*0.05) + (101 * (1 + DWS*0.1))
That means that a 5/5 DWS gives 151 damage on the OH mutilate damage. Not only that DWS affects Mutilate in a great way, but aslo white damage.

Dual Wield Specialization VS Opportunity:
Real fast calc:
Dual GM Shanker: Average damage (103+155)/2 = 129 with 1260 AP

DWS:
MH: (129+ 1260/14*1.7) + 101 = 383
OH: (129+ 1260/14*1.7) * (0.5+5*0.05) + (101 * (1 + 5*0.1)) = 363
Total: 746

Opportunity:
MH: (129+ 1260/14*1.7) + 101 = 383 * 1.2 = 460
OH: (129+ 1260/14*1.7) * (0.5) + 101 = 242 * 1.2 = 290
Total: 750

Basically the lower average damage your OH weapon has, the more damage you will do with mutilate. But that doesn't compare with the increased white damage that you get from the DWS. And since you get DWS, you probly have SnD as well that makes quite a difference in PvE.

So if your into 100% PvP, pick Subtlety for the PvP oriented abilities, else go for Combat and DWS.

Well this is the same description as the 2.03, but I havn't posted the info on the blog.

Thx for the update!

A suggestion: can you make a script and option, which is do a serious simulation - selectable the iteration number (10, 20, 50, 100) - and after it show the average dps, and other stats. (Maybe some progress indicator needed if it is slow.) Coz' the normalized calculation is not correct for me. I mean: BS build is good with normalized, but in simulaton it does much lower dps.
This would be great. :)

well the simulations is a random number from 0-0.99 multiplied to the value of the difference between the minimum and maximum damage then added to minimum amount.

As for energy and combo point generation, its based with a random nummber compared to the actual chance of the ability to proc.

You can run the simulations over and over again, and it will never give the same values (some times very small, other times very high), but overall, the average should be equal to the normalized attacks.

I'm unshure how the random is generated in Javascript, it might be similar to C langage where its taken from a single algorithm using the seconds passed since the early 1900s.

Ok ok.
Just do me a favor plz:
Do some testing (50-100 times) with mutilate and Backstab talent, and compare the average results with the normalized one. If this two are close, then i will beg your pardon... but i need to know if my sense is correct or not.
Thx for Your time!

Err... one more thing. Can you include the Shiv ability: :)

You mean shiv as a main ability ? I tough of it but there's no weapon that seems to be good enough vs the energy cost.

hey, as far as I can tell in game Mutilate is not normalized. In the calculator mutilate is not being effected by weapon speed.

A question about your mutilate calculation: on wowwiki it says mutilate off hand damage is simply main hand damage * 0.5 + DWS bonus.
You however state that the 101 doesn't get multiplied by 0.5 + DWS, but actually by 1 + DWS.
Could you elaborate on the source of that information please?

The links aren't working for the 2.05 Calculator. When I click on them I get a violent message saying the site http://pvp.net.tf/ has been reported as an attack site. Anyone else getting this?
